Due to the major diversity in Nigeria, and all of the small sub groups of ethnicities dispersed throughout the state, it is next to impossible to name all of them. However, there are some "major" minor ethnicities in Nigeria which have enough of a population to be covered. The three primary minor ethnicities in Nigeria are: The Kanuri people, the Ibibo people, and the Tiv people. Some details regarding each of these groups are mentioned below.
The Kanuri People: Comprising 4% of Nigeria's population, the Kanuri people speak a language belonging to the Saharan branch of the Nilo-Saharan family, that is known as Kanuri Language. This ethnic group is also prominent in Chad, and Niger, where the former Kanem and Bornu Empires stood.
The Ibibo People: The Ibibo people comprise 3.5% of Nigeria's population, and are located in the Palm Belt of Nigeria's Akwa Ibom state. They speak a language in the Niger Congo family, called Kwa. They are the sixth largest ethnic group in Nigeria.
The Tiv people: Constituting 2.5% of Nigeria's population, this ethno-linguistic group has a population of 6 million individuals throughout Nigeria and a bit of Cameroon. Located in the middle belt Region of Nigeria, which is located east of the Equator.
