The arrival of missionaries to Nigeria was first mocked by locals, due to how different their belifs are from their traditional religions. However, slowly but surely the christian religion was accepted, completely altering the local's lives. The southern part of Africa is predominantly Christian, and the Northern area is predominently Muslim. These zones are beginning to spread and consequently overlap, leading to a more integrated religion base in Africa.
Traditional Religions: The amount of adherents to traditional religions in Nigeria is quite small, although not non-existent. These religions were founded by individual tribes, due to their isolation. The different groups of people in Nigeria were quite isolated due to extreme violence. This lead to many different religions, customs, languages, and cultures in general.
Hindu: The spread of Hinduism to Nigeria began from the migration of missionaries from India to Northern Africa. The organization that most Hindu missionaries belonged to is called ISKCON. These organizations and missionaries have successfully converted around 25,000 Nigerians to the Hindu faith.
